Crossriver Bed & Breakfast

Activities

Crossriver B&B is situated in the traditional village of Oughterard, on the Glann road, which leads along the Westernway, by Lough Corrib.
There is a relaxed and friendly atmosphere throughout the village, which makes everyone feel welcome. Oughterard has something to offer all visitors with a wealth of quality restaurants and pubs (most of which play live traditional Irish music)

Lough Corrib, with its 365 islands it is the largest lake in the republic of Ireland. Lough Corrib is renowned for its wild brown trout and Oughterard is the place to be if you are an angler. Guides, boats and outboard motors can easily be arranged for you during your stay. For those less interested in fishing, there is a passenger boat cruise service run on Lough Corrib, they offer a variety of different cruises to suit everyone.

Crossriver is located in the center of a walkers paradise with the Western Way starting in Oughterard and runing along the Western edge of Lough Corrib. The route either walked in whole or in part is the perfect way to see the breathtaking views the area has to offer. Shorter walks in the area include The Owenriff Way Walk and the Tonwee Wood Walk.

Oughterard Golf Club is a charming and challenging parklands course set in tranquil parkland between Lough Corrib to the East and the Connemara Mountains to the North and North West. The Golf Club is renowned for its hospitality and is an ideal venue to include on a golfing holiday in the West of Ireland. The course is a 5 minute drive from Crossriver.

The region is also a haven for horse-riding enthusiasts, with treks of varying lengths organised by local riding centres.
The Galway coastline is laced with sandy beaches, (15 miles), and, as you would expect, there are a myriad of watersports to chose from including surfing, sailing, canoeing, windsurfing, water-skiing, scuba diving and powerboating.
Take a cruise along Lough Corrib, the Connemara Coastline, or on Killary, Ireland’s only Fjord.

Oughterard is the ideal base to tour Connemara, Galway City, the Burren in County Clare, Cong, Westport, Croagh Patrick and Achill Island in Mayo or the famous Aran Islands.
